An M3U file is essentially a list of channel links in a simple text format. You load the M3U URL into any compatible player (like VLC or IPTV Smarters), and it displays your channel list. It's simple and works almost everywhere, but usually doesn't include a built-in electronic programme guide (EPG) unless the provider adds one separately.
Xtream Codes is a more structured login method — using a server URL, username, and password — that typically includes organized categories, a program guide, and easier navigation between live TV, movies, and series sections.
For most users, Xtream Codes offers a smoother, more organized experience and is generally recommended if your app supports it. M3U remains useful as a universal fallback, especially on devices or players that don't support Xtream Codes login directly.
